2015 Nissan Altima vs 2014 Nissan Altima

The Altima, Nissan’s bestselling vehicle is getting substantial upgrades for the 2015 model year. The exterior styling of the Altima is unchanged as the vehicle was redesigned in 2013. The exterior of the Altima is expected to be revamped for the 2016 model year as a part of the mid-cycle upgrades to the model. Several improvements have been made for the 2015 Nissan Altima:

Gas Mileage

The 2015 Altima has gained fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor, now offering 32 miles per gallon highway and 22 miles per gallon in the city. This represents a 1 mile per gallon gain over the 2014 Nissan Altima. The increase is considerable since the Altima began at the top of the fuel efficiency when compared against similarly sized vehicles.

Luxury Now Standard

Several convenience and safety options now come standards on the Altima’s 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL trim lines. These now standard features include Nissan Connect with Navigation, blind spot warning, moving object detection and lane departure warning.  These additions will appeal to drivers who are looking for more technological advances in their vehicles and will allow the Altima to stay competitive for these drivers.

Interior Change

Altima models with beige interiors have black carpeting and lower seat side trim for the 2015 model year. This upgrade will make clean up easier for those who find beige interiors appealing.

Pricing Changes

For the 2015 model year, the Altima’s pricing strategy has changed, with most models having a slight price increase.  Both of the V-6 options are $1,310 higher than their 2014 predecessors, a pricing strategy that makes sense given the additional features that are now standard on those models.

The 2015 Altima will continue to be one of Nissan’s best sellers. The newly available features continue to keep the car competitive with other midsize vehicles in this segment. For the 2014 model year, the Altima’s sales rose while others in the same space faltered. This trend can be expected to continue.
