Located in Mount Laurel (about 11 miles from Cherry Hill), the focus of the nature center is on providing children with an interactive education about animals. The Paws Farm Nature Center has more than 80 animals on its property and provides a variety of classes and activities aimed towards helping children to learn about animals in a fun way. Paws Farm also hosts birthday parties and special events all year. The classes offered are Nature Tales for kids from three to five years old and Nature Explorers for kids from five to eight.
The Battleship New Jersey Museum
The Battleship New Jersey is the nation’s most decorated battleship. Visitors of all ages have the option of touring the ship and experiencing some of America’s naval history. They will see an assortment of exhibits from the ship’s long and storied past. They also will be able to tour the crew’s quarters as well as learn about the ships guns and how they were loaded. Visitors to the Battleship New Jersey Museum are encouraged to explore and to discover what life was once like for sailors. The Battleship New Jersey can be found at 100 Clinton Street in Camden, roughly six miles from Cherry Hill.
The Please Touch Museum
This museum is located at the Memorial Hall Recreation Center in Philadelphia. It is roughly 11 miles away from Cherry Hill and is the first museum in the country aimed at families with children under age seven. The museum offers two floors of exhibits that allow children to learn through play. Among the exhibits is a model of various Philadelphia buildings that are used to create a little neighborhood inside the museum. Children can also play in a recreated 1876 train station in the Centennial Exploration exhibit or become astronauts and explore other planets in the Final Fantasy exhibit. The Adventure Aquarium
This aquarium offers a KidZone where youngsters can touch undersea creatures including sharks and stingrays. Along with this, the Adventure Aquarium has the only exhibit in the country that features rare hammerhead sharks and the only one on the planet where visitors can look at a hippopotamus face-to-face. The Aquarium is located on the Waterfront in Camden, NJ; it is roughly seven miles from Cherry Hill.
The Philadelphia Zoo
The zoo is located on a 42-acre property and has more than 1,300 animals for visitors to enjoy. The Philadelphia Zoo has been around since 1874 and now sees more than 1.2 million visitors each year. In addition to the animal exhibits, visitors have access to a variety of amenities. Families with young children can rent strollers and will have access to family restrooms. There are also multiple dining options as well as picnic areas in various places on the grounds. The Philadelphia Zoo is on West Girard Avenue, approximately 11 miles from Cherry Hill.
