Since 1771, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been a cherished event in the city of Philadelphia, with something new to offer every year. This year’s parade will mark the 247th parade and while all the amazing floats remain to be seen, the parade committee has already put together a full calendar of events.

About This Year’s Parade
Every year, the parade committee chooses a new theme for the holiday’s festivities. The theme of this year’s parade is, “St. Patrick, Protect and Guide Our Police Officers”. For this reason, Grand Marshal Barney Boyce has filled the 2017 Ring of Honor with some of Philadelphia’s finest boys in blue.
- February 19th
3:00 p.m. at Hero’s Hall: This afternoon marks the first parade fundraiser where attendees can enjoy traditional Irish music and dancing. Drinks and food will be available at the buffet, and auctions will be held to raise money for the parade.
- March 5th
3:00 p.m. at Springfield Country Club: In addition to an auction, this second fundraiser will include an Irish scone making contest. Blackthorn & the Round Tower Band will perform.
- March 9th
10:00 a.m. at City Hall: City council will honor Grand Marshal Barney Boyce and his Ring of Honor.
3:00 p.m. at City Hall West Side:Irish patriots’ wreath laying ceremony.
4:00 p.m. at City Hall, Mayor’s Reception Room: Mayor James Kenney will make his proclamation of “Irish Month”.
6:00 p.m. at Sugarhouse Casino: The Grand Marshal Gala.
- March 12th
9:15 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church: Parade Mass.
11:30 a.m. at S Broad and Locust Streets: The parade begins.
3pm at Penn’s Landing: The parade ends.
- March 17th
8:00 a.m. at Plough & Stars Restaurant: Judge Jimmy Lynn’s St. Patrick Day Breakfast.
11:00 a.m. at Front and Chestnut Streets: Wreath laying ceremony and Irish memorial.
- April 20th
6:00 p.m. at the Irish Center: Parade awards ceremony.
Remember, the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the city’s major events every year. If you choose to drive in, be sure to arrive early, and look for one of the participating parking garages in Olde City, around the Gallery Mall, and near the Parkway Museums.
